Double winner Bayern Munich has reacted to its failures and signed former NBA professional Onuralp Bitim. The Turkish small forward is coming on loan from EuroLeague rival Fenerbahce Istanbul until the end of the season, the German basketball champions announced on Friday.
The 25-year-old, under a long-term contract with Fener, appeared 23 times in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls last season. The franchise separated from Bitim in mid-October.
“After two players in the wing position, Niels Giffey and then Vlado Lucic, were injured and we are still missing, the coaching team and the team handled the situation excellently. But this additional burden cannot be managed responsibly in the long term“, said sports director Dragan Tarlac. That’s why the club brought in the “very talented and versatile” Bitim.
