The Franco-Cameroonian from Tarbes-Lourdes took advantage of the international break to represent his country, Cameroon, during the 2024 FIBA AfroBasket Qualifiers.
The co-captain ofUnion Tarbes-Lourdes, Fabien Atebawas selected in the Cameroon national team to participate in the 1st round of qualifications for AfroBasket 2025 which took place in Dakar on November 22, 23 and 24.
After two well-controlled matches against Gabon (76-58) with 12 points from Ateba then against Rwanda (70-59) and 17 points from Ateba, things got tough against the Senegal team which was playing at home .
It was at the very end of the match that the locals were able to make a small difference (87-83, 7 points from Ateba) over the Cameroonians who still have the hope of qualifying for the quarter-finals after the second round which will take place in February 2025.
