With a lackluster last season, US Samazan returns to Regional 2 this season, narrowly failing in its quest to remain in the neo-Aquitaine elite. The workforce of the Greens and Whites was largely renewed with the departure of several executives who had to be replaced.
To build their new group, the leaders relied on experience by enlisting the services of two veterans, experienced in games at higher levels, Rémi Menville and Cyril Lhomond. Their mission will be to bring their experience and knowledge of the game to the rest of the squad.
The start of the season is, however, relatively disappointing considering the group present, as indicated by Nicolas Lassus, co-president of US Samazan. “We didn’t have a great start to the season, which is partly explained by the big delay we fell in our preparation. With this departure, it will certainly be complicated to aim for the top of the table but I hope that we will be able to play a good mid-table. »
For pleasure
However, there is no question of sounding the alarm as the group coached by Dorian Denaules seems to have the qualities to do well in this R2 championship. “It’s a group that has very interesting potential,” notes the Samazan president. The mayonnaise just needs to set and everyone needs to get back up to speed physically. From there, everything will be better. But for that, we will take stock at the end of the first legs. »
And to succeed in its endeavor, the green and white club will also count on the contribution of its loyal public who, season after season, are always there to encourage their own, against all odds. “It’s true that Samazan remains a village with a real basketball culture,” admits Nicolas Lassus. We play for the club of course, but also for the public and for the whole village, always trying to have as much fun as possible. » A notion which is at the heart of US Samazan’s gaming philosophy, even if this pleasure inevitably involves victories.
