Basketball, protagonist of the Champions Gala – COVER – NEWS

The Champions Gala, which was born in 2019, seeks to recognize the careers of athletes, women’s clubs and major sporting events starring women. The sixth edition, which was held on Friday, November 22 at the Caja de Música Auditorium in Centrocentro, included among its attendees the head of the Delegated Sports Area, Sonia Cea; the delegate councilor for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Ángel Niño; the councilor of Tetuán, Paula Gómez-Angulo, and the president of the Madrid Basketball Federation, Santos Moraga.

Precisely, basketball was one of the protagonists of the Gala with the awards for women’s team 3×3 (Success in team sport), the Movistar Students (Entity linked to sports practice) and Maria Duran Heras (Consistency in sports practice). At 71 years old, María has been playing basketball for 56 seasons, the last 25 in the Municipal Sports Games, as she told in this interview on the FBM website.
