CHIVASSO – After the midweek 77-80 defeat against Settimo in which Chivasso only played the first part of the match, it seems that the lesson was learned by coach Giardino’s players. In fact, in the match against Universal Novara the green and whites remembered that matches last 40′ and – despite having lost their way in the central 20′ – they found themselves again in the last 10′ of the game and achieved success. A success built in a final period in which Chivasso scored 31 points thanks to Tagliano, Caputo, Dario and Ligotino, while in defense they conceded only 11 points to their opponents, who crashed against the green and white defense. Defense that finally dirty the passes, contests every shot, controls the rebounds, allowing the very hot hands of Tagliano and Caputo to be armed.
In the first part of the match, however, the teams were evenly matched in the first quarter (17-17), despite Novara’s 0-7 sprint start, made up for by Dario, Ligotino and Tagliano. While in the second and third periods Novara inexorably stretched, taking advantage of the offensive confusion of the green and whites, who insisted on looking for the man near the basket, but found too many errors in support. The defense also lacks and plays too far from the direct opponent: Novara thanks them and at the end of the third quarter sails at +16 towards what seems like an easy final. Instead, in just 10′ the Chivasse storm causes the Novara sailing ship to lose its way, which sinks due to the power of the waves of Caputo, Dario, Greppi, Ligotino and Tagliano.
