King’s Commissioner Arjen Gerritsen has sent the provincial plan for the reception of asylum seekers in Flevoland to Minister Faber of Asylum and Migration. In the context of the Distribution Act, Flevoland will jointly offer 3,580 shelter places, which is 47% more than originally required.

Liander is experiencing delays during power works

Grid operator Liander has announced that work on the power grid in Biddinghuizen is being delayed. The work was originally due to be completed in November, but the expected completion date has now been pushed back to the end of March. The delay is the result of postponed deliveries of new transformer houses.

Defense’s arrival in Flevoland seems very likely

Defense is considering establishing new locations in Flevoland. The mayor and aldermen of Dronten and Zeewolde have informed their municipal councils that each region must contribute to the expansion of Defense capacity in the Netherlands. The Provincial Executive has also sent a similar letter to the Provincial Council.

Transformer house for Koetshuis will soon be demolished

The well-known transformer house on the Baan in Biddinghuizen, which has marked the village entrance for more than sixty years, will soon be demolished. Grid operator Liander is replacing the house as part of work on the electricity grid. New transformer houses will be built in various places in the village.
