The French: Productive night for the French representatives
At the Wizards, what matters is not the results but the development of young players. And in this sense, Bilal Coulibaly and Alexandre Sarr are among the rare satisfactions of an NBA season which is once again taking a dramatic turn in the federal capital, at least in terms of victories. Washington has not won for 11 matches, in fact, with a series of defeats which continued with the setback at the Pacers (115-103) on Sunday.
But Coulibaly and Sarr therefore put themselves forward. Each scored 17 points. The first named scored 10 in the third quarter and allowed his team to stay in contact with Indiana before being much less served in attack afterwards. He added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Sarr finished with a fairly solid double-double: 17 points but also 14 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks despite some clumsiness at times. They were both their team’s leading scorers.
Rudy Gobert’s Timberwolves also lost, on the floor the Celtics (107-105) but the French pivot did his job in the paint by taking 20 rebounds in addition to his 10 points. He was used very little by his teammates in attack as (too) often this season. Holder, Guerschon Yabusele could not prevent the Sixers’ heavy home defeat against the Clippers (99-125) and he accumulated 6 points and as many rebounds. Nicolas Batum finished with 3 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists during the same game.
The match: Jimmy Butler guides Miami against Dallas
After a successful comeback against Philadelphia, Jimmy Butler continues. The All-Star guard confirms he has resumed his role as boss for Miami. His 33 points (at 11/17) allowed the Florida franchise to overcome Dallas (123-118) at home, after overtime. Five more minutes that he went for by dunking to equalize 4 seconds from the end of the fourth quarter. It was also he who served Bam Adebayo (19 points) for a decisive three-pointer which gave the Heat the last advantage of the evening.
The match was closely contested throughout despite the absence of Luka Doncic. Kyrie Irving carried his own at the end of the match by scoring 14 of his 27 points in money time but it was not enough. PJ Washington also stood out by finishing with 21 units. For Miami, Tyler Herro compiled 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The player: Ty Jerome, what a revelation!
The Cavaliers’ backup point guard is the surprise player on the surprise team. Cleveland continues its great start after winning against Toronto last night (122-108). A new success, the seventeenth in eighteen matches, during which Ty Jerome scored 26 points coming off the bench. He also stole 4 balls and distributed 6 assists. The 27-year-old shows incredible skill every evening (9 out of 14 on Sunday) and he is clearly one of the revelations of the start of the season.
The performance: Cam Thomas lights up the Kings
Victory for Brooklyn in Sacramento (103-108) with 34 points and 6 assists from fullback Cam Thomas. An excellent scorer (25 points per match), the 23-year-old passed the 30-point mark for the sixth time this season.
