With outstanding participation in multiple disciplines, Team Bogotá reaffirms its place as one of the strongest delegations in the country, reaching second place in the 2024 National Finals of the 2024 Intercollegiate Games, which take place in the cities of Bogotá, Manizales, Santa Rosa de Cabal, Bucaramanga, among others. The athletes of the capital have shone in sports such as athletics, skating, judo, swimming, skateboarding and chess, making a significant contribution to the national medal table.
The director of the District Institute of Recreation and Sports (IDRD), Daniel García Cañón, celebrated these results: “These achievements are a reflection of the hard work of our athletes and the support of coaches and families. Athletics:
The track and field witnessed the dominance of the people of Bogotá with multiple golds, such as those obtained by Dania Michell Ulabarri Moreno (100m hurdles), Thomas Esteban Castro Gómez (1500m flat) and Laura Fernanda Cuy Rodríguez (2000m hurdles). In running, throwing and relays there were also outstanding performances, achieving important medals.
Skating:
Bogotá shone in the speed and distance tests. Manuela Rodríguez Torres and Narel Jhoaw González Jiménez won multiple gold medals in competitions such as the sprint and 10,000 meter elimination. In addition, the capital team accumulated silver and bronze in other modalities, consolidating its hegemony in this sport.
Judo:
The tatami was a terrain of victories for Bogotá, highlighting the gold in team competitions and in individual categories such as those obtained by Andrés Santiago Cabrera Batista (48kg) and Laura Valentina Pérez Montero (53kg).
Swimming:
Samuel Alberto Reyes Pardo was a key figure with golds in the 100 and 200 meter freestyle. Sarah Sofía Triana Ramos and Mariana Rusinque Luna added medals in long-distance events and relays, positioning the city as a benchmark in this discipline.
Skateboarding:
Urban sports such as skateboarding showed the emerging talent of Bogotá, with victories for Jhosvany Steven Armario Tovar and Juliana Gaspar Ureña in the Park and Street modalities in the junior category.
Chess:
In integrated chess, Sergio Alejandro Ayala Delgado achieved bronze in the classical modality, demonstrating the versatility of Bogotá talent.
