- The people of Bogotá continue to be leaders in the Paralympic sector, in the Olympic branch they fight for second place.
Bogotá, November 26, 2024.- Two days from the end, after day 18 of competitions, Team Bogotá fights in the I National Youth Games, remaining the leader of the medal table in the Paralympic sector, and fighting in a close fight with Valle, for second place in the Olympic branch.
In the Paralympics, there was no medal activity, so things remained as they were, although there were competitions in some disciplines, such as soccer for the blind, where Bogotá first beat Tolima 2-0 (goals from Ronal Madrid) and then tied 1-1 with Valle (Madrid goal again), qualifying these two for the grand final that will be played this Wednesday.
Thus, Bogotá is close to the title of the Games in the Paralympic sector, with 5 golds ahead of Antioquia and 8 over Valle. The medal table is headed by Team Bogotá with 101 medals (37 gold, 33 silver and 31 bronze), followed by Antioquia with 79 (32-22-25), Valle with 75 (29-25-21), Santander with 56 (20-22-14) and Cundinamarca with 45 (18-17-10).
Moving on to the Olympic sector, Antioquia is the leader and already champion of the jousts, Bogotá is third in the medal table, but in a close fight with Valle for second place, which the latter hold with one gold difference and with several medals still in dispute, which suggests a definition of “heart attack” and that will be elucidated by one or two gold medals.
The medal table in the Olympic sector shows Antioquia as the leader with 267 medals (98 gold, 92 silver and 77 bronze), followed by Valle with 240 (81-88-71), Bogotá with 228 (80-62-86) , Atlántico with 58 (17-15-26) and Boyacá with 48 (17-15-16).
On the day, canoeing delivered 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze to Bogotá. The gold medals were achieved by Julien Morales and Santiago Manrique in Kayak K2 1,000 meters for men, and by the quartet of Julien Morales, Santiago Manrique, Juan García and Pablo Montoya, in Kayak K4 1,000 meters for men.
The silver came from Cristian Ávila in Canoe C1 1,000 meters for men, and Julien Morales in Kayak K1 1,000 meters for men; Bronze was achieved by Alejandro Naranjo and Cristian Ávila, in the men’s Canoe C2 1,000 meters.
Two more bronzes were given in competition, achieved by Santiago Manrique in Kayak K1 1,000 meters for men, and Juan García and Pablo Montoya in Kayak K2 1,000 meters for men, but they were given to Córdoba and Antioquia respectively, given that the regulations of this discipline establish that a regional cannot occupy two spaces on the podium in the same competition, so the worst position must be given to the person next in the competition classification.
In judo, gold for Bogotá in the men’s -100 kgs with Christopher Galvis, who defeated Paisa Kevin Herrera in the final, and a silver for Sharik Reinoso in -78 kgs.
