The Bologna Baseball Indoor 2024/25 starts tomorrow, Sunday 24 November, the traditional first event of the Bolognese youth bat and run season, created to encourage the inclusion of girls and boys who are approaching baseball and gradually introduce them to what will be then the official summer activity, taking advantage of the winter period, a time dedicated only to training.
The non-competitive nature of the event, the material used (sponge bats, soft balls), the game methods defined by the regulations guarantee the absolutely inclusive nature of the event, ideal for beginners in this sport.
Organized by Athletics Bologna and BCM Minerbio, it will see the participation of 13 clubs, which will field twenty-two teams in the three categories provided.
This year, in fact, in addition to the 11 teams in the “Senior” category (children up to 11 years of age) and the 8 in the “Junior” category (up to 9 years of age), the organizers have added, on an experimental basis, the category “Master” (up to 12 years of age, 3 teams registered) for an expected participation of almost 350 boys and girls.
In addition to the organizers, the following will take the field: Castelmaggiore, Castenaso, Fortitudo, Godo, Imola, Ozzano Virtus, Pianoro, Ravenna, San Lazzaro ’90, Sasso Marconi and the welcome return of the Yankees of San Giovanni in Persiceto with a team in Senior category. Furthermore, among the ranks of Pianoro Baseball, it is worth mentioning the San Giuseppe Institute which will participate in the competition with its own team in the Junior category.
Almost 80 races are scheduled on the facilities of Bologna, Mezzolara, Minerbio, Ravenna, Russi and Sasso Marconi from Sunday 24 November 2024 to Sunday 16 February 2025, when they will be held simultaneously in Bologna, on three facilities (Palazzetto Copernico, PalaPilastro and Centro Universitario Record ) the finals of the event, with awards for all the participating children.
The play ball of the event for the 2024/25 edition will be on Sunday 24 November at the Palazzetto Copernico, in via Garavaglia, in Bologna, and at the Minerbio municipal gym, in via Don Zamboni, starting from 2.30 pm.
