Bonn Capitals named GA team of the year
The Bonn Capitals were named Team of the Year 2024 by the General-Anzeiger – a regional daily newspaper from the Bonn, Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, Ahrweiler and Neuwied region. In the vote, which is made up of jury and reader votes, the Caps prevailed against the ProB basketball players from the Dragons Rhöndorf and the volleyball players from TuS Mondorf.
After winning their third German championship title in the club’s history, the team has now been honored with this award for the fourth time – after 2019, 2021 and 2022. This makes the Bonn Capitals the record winners of the election, which has existed since 2017.
The ceremonial award took place as part of the General-Anzeiger sports gala in the Tanzhaus Beuel. In addition to being voted Team of the Year, other honors were also presented during the gala, including the awards for Sportsman of the Year, Coach of the Year and the General-Anzeiger Volunteer Award.
Florian Nehring, sports director of the Bonn Capitals, was honored for his extraordinary commitment to the inclusion team. Max Schmitz, squad planner, former player and head coach of the Caps, was also part of the jury.
