According to information from “Bild”, Elvira Becker was found lifeless in her apartment in Leimen (Baden-Württemberg) on Thursday morning. Son Boris is said to have been informed by telephone and is now on his way to his hometown. He currently lives in Milan with his third wife Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro.
“I can confirm the death of Elvira Becker. Boris Becker is in deep mourning,” Becker’s lawyer Christian-Oliver Moser told the newspaper.
It was only in September that Becker married his wife Lilian in the Italian port city of Portofino. Even then his mother could no longer be there. In an interview with “Bild” at the time, Elvira explained: “My legs aren’t working anymore, I can’t go on this long journey.”
The relationship between Boris Becker and his mother is said to have been particularly close. It wasn’t until May that he visited Elvira in Leimen and posted photos on Instagram.
No matter how turbulent the tennis star’s life was, mother Elvira was always by Becker’s side. In 1985 she was there for Boris’ first Wimbledon victory. And he spoke to her on the phone in his darkest hour, when Boris Becker was imprisoned in British prison for over seven months in 2022 for insolvency offenses.
Becker himself has not yet commented on the death of his mother.
