In the sprint, the best eight riders score points, while the winner gets eight points. In the ongoing fight for the title between Verstappen and Norris, McLaren has already announced that it is willing to reach out to the team management. On Saturday at the Interlagos circuit, he has an ideal opportunity to get his “unit” into the lead, as Piastri can cover his colleague’s back.

Frenchman Pierre Gasly, who took seventh place at Alpine, and Liam Lawson also impressed in Friday’s qualifying. The New Zealander from the RB Visa team still only has a few races behind him, but he managed to take eighth place. The top ten was completed by 19-year-old Oliver Bearman, who stopped in Haas at the last moment for Kevin Magnussen. However, it is doubtful whether he will perform in the sprint itself at the expense of the Dane, who was not feeling well on Friday.

Bearman went to the third part of the qualification as the only one from the American team, Nico Hülkenberg was twelfth behind Lewis Hamilton. He finished surprisingly low, and Sergio Perez (Red Bull) placed next to him, who confirmed his performance crisis. Already in the first part, Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) and Juki Cunoda (RB Visa) dropped out surprisingly.
