Bronze for Maruska Iamundo from Ventimiglia at the Italian Judo Cup

On Sunday 24 November 2024 the PalaPellicone in Ostia Lido hosted the national final of the Italian A1 Cup (first division) of judo in which the male and female athletes placed at the top of the national ranking list were invited to participate, divided into the various weight categories.

For the Judo Club Ventimiglia the athlete competed Maruska Iamundo engaged in the tough category up to 57 kg, as always followed in the competition by coach Antonella Iannucci.

Maruska started very well, clearly winning the first two matches against strong and titled opponents, showing a nice, technically very valid judo and bringing varied and effective attacks. Unfortunately, an unexpected defeat came in the semi-final match when the fate of the match already seemed to see it launched towards the final. So Maruska had to be “satisfied” with competing in the final for the bronze medal: a tough, sharp match open to any outcome, after four minutes of intense battle, unfortunately defeat came.

The athlete of the Judo Club Ventimiglia thus ends the Italian Cup at the foot of the podium, but with the awareness of his value and, despite dividing himself between work and training, he always manages to reach the top of the national rankings, managing to compete for important medals . A big heart and an iron will that make him an example for younger judokas.
