The 2023 champions Bruno Seichter and Roman Pokrasen had set themselves a big goal for the North German Championships in Elmshorn: repeat their surprise success from last year. But it would be difficult, after all, the two Schwerin model athletes from BSC 95 have been competing in an age group higher since January.

In addition to the duo, Charlotte Dettmann (U11), Hermine Kunz and Lara Dethloff (both U15) and Cristian Pril (U19) represented the BSC 95. The goal of at least surviving the first round often worked. Unfortunately, the quartet had bad luck and often met the top players in their age groups.
Pokrasen/Seichter win silver in the U17 doubles
Roman Pokrasen started from seed four in singles and doubles (together with Seichter). The duo impressed from game one. Pokrasen reached the semi-finals in the individual, where he lost bronze against Germany’s number two Mads Wohlers (Hamburg). In doubles, Pokrasen/Seichter beat the top pair, but lost the final. Nevertheless, they got their ticket for the German championships in Bonn. “What the two boys have achieved since winning the U15 title is just amazing. But all the other BSC talents don’t need to hide,” said young coach Patrick Dettmann.
Lucas Jeschke from Neubrandenburg is convincing
The Schwerin side are also happy about the success of the Neubrandenburg talent Lucas Jeschke (SV Motor Süd). The 12-year-old, who regularly takes part in training sessions with the Schwerin squad athletes, secured the title in the boys’ doubles and the runner-up in the singles for the first time in his young career after placing fifth in the mixed doubles.
