Last weekend a ranking tournament took place in Uster for the various age groups from youth to elite as well as students. There was an extremely strong field of participants totaling 730 judokas in all age categories.
The high-class field of participants from six different countries gave the tournament an additional international flair and guaranteed judo sport at a high level.
Experienced players with strong performances
The first to appear on Saturday were Samuel Tischhauser (U18), Manuel Tischhauser and Ramon Hardegger (U21).
First, Samuel Tischhauser let his whole class shine. With three fights won, he qualified for the quarterfinals as group winner. He decided this in a confident manner. His winning streak was then stopped in the semi-finals and Tischhauser secured the bronze medal.
Manuel Tischhauser got off to a brilliant start and was able to win his preliminary round fights and the subsequent quarter-final fight. Only in the semifinals did he lose to a strong judoka from JC Wetzikon. He also received the bronze medal for his successful performance.
Ramon Hardegger also fought successfully and confidently prevailed in his group. He was only defeated in his last fight. He received silver for his performance.
At the end of the tournament day, the oldest judo fighter in the Tischhauser family, Fabian, intervened in the competition. This is in the elite age category – 73 kg. He didn’t miss a beat either and immediately showed off all of his technical skills. This brought him both a commanding group victory and a victory in the quarter-finals. It was only in the semifinals that Tischhauser had to admit defeat to a strong judoka from Germany and, like his brothers, received the bronze award.
U15 fighter with a strong tournament appearance
On Sunday, the ambitious offspring of JC Buchs traveled to the Zurich Oberland. With Silvan Tischhauser, Gustav Kern and Luca Wüst at the start, the U15 fighters also had legitimate chances of winning a medal.
Silvan Tischhauser was the first to take part in the competition in the 45 kg weight class. Tischhauser prevailed in his group and subsequently won the quarter-final fight. It was only in the semi-finals that Tischhauser had to admit defeat after an even fight. He followed suit with his older brothers and was also able to win the well-deserved bronze medal thanks to his strong performances.
Gustav Kern stepped onto the mats in the same weight class – 45 kg. Kern got off to a lightning start and was initially able to win the group with strong techniques. Inspired by this start, Kern was able to deliver his best judo throughout the rest of the tournament. He won both his quarter-final and semi-final encounters through strong fights. Only in the final fight was Kern stopped by a Basel judoka and won silver.
Now it was the turn of Luca Wüst, who competed in the 50 kg weight class. He got off to a perfect start to the tournament and won all of his group fights in a convincing manner. As group winner, he could also expect good chances for the rest of the tournament. However, Wüst met a strong judoka from Team Kosovo in the quarterfinals. After good and courageous resistance, Wüst had to admit defeat to the eventual tournament winner of this weight class in this duel and ended up fifth.
