On the 11th matchday of the Bundesliga, 1. FSV Mainz 05 won 3-0 (2-0). Holstein Kiel won. The goals for Mainz were scored by Nadiem Amiri (11th), Jonathan Burkardt (37th) with a hand penalty and Lee Jae-sung (53rd). This puts Mainz in seventh place in the table with 16 points, while Kiel remains in second-to-last place with five points.
The first chance for Mainz came in the fourth minute, but Burkardt’s ball went over the goal. Shortly afterwards, Amiri scored the opening goal (11th), which could have increased in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar after a free kick. Kiel’s coach Marcel Rapp then substituted Shuto Machino and Tymoteusz Puchacz for Finn Porath and Armin Gigovic (33′). Just two minutes later, Gigovic, of all people, caused the hand penalty that Burkardt shot into the goal (37th).
A few minutes after the restart, Lee (53′) made it 3-0 for Mainz with a header. Shortly before the end of the game, Burkardt (80th) had to be substituted with a thigh injury. He had previously scored again, but was offside.
