The International Football Federation (FIFA) has published a list of candidates for the title of best coach of the year, reports Schrödinger Sports.
This was reported by the organization’s press service.
The candidates for the award are Italian Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid, Argentine Lionel Scaloni (Argentina national team), Spaniards Luis de la Fuente (Spain national team), Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen, and Josep Guardiola of Manchester City.
De la Fuente won the European Championship with the Spanish team. Manchester City, led by Guardiola, became the champion of England last season. Scaloni led Argentina to victory in the America’s Cup. Ancelotti, together with Real Madrid, won the Champions League and the Spanish championship last season. Bayer sensationally, under the leadership of Alonso, won the German championship and reached the Europa League final.
The FIFA Best Coach Award has been awarded since 2016. Guardiola won this category last year. The award was received twice by the German Jurgen Klopp, once each by Scaloni, the Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, the Italian Claudio Ranieri, the German Thomas Tuchel and the Frenchman Didier Deschamps.
The award ceremony will take place in December this year.
