This November 24, Seville will be the final point for the first time in the history of the national circuit of the Women’s Race, after the eight previous events that have already conquered the asphalt of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Valencia, Madrid, Vitoria- Gasteiz, Gijón, A Coruña, Zaragoza and Barcelona last Sunday.
In total, with the Andalusian test, there will have been more than 100,000 women who have put on the number and the pink t-shirt to complete one of the races of what is considered the largest women’s sporting event in Europe.
The Seville event of the Women’s Race will bring together more than 7,000 participants, who will once again run and walk through its streets to join the start and finish line on La Rábida street after completing the 6.5 kilometer route, around the María Luisa Park and Plaza de España. After crossing the finish line, participants will be able to join a complete one-hour fitness and aerobics festival, the organization reported.
Carolina Marín, Princess of Asturias Sports Award 2024 and ambassador of Banco Santander, and the Sevillian Paralympic rower Leonor García will receive a tribute from the participants in the moments prior to the start, for their sporting careers so far and for being “enormous sporting and personal references for all women, especially for the youngest ones who have in them two models of athletes to follow,” the statement highlighted.
In Seville, the Women’s Race will celebrate the two decades of existence of the national circuit of the event, which started in 2004 and has encouraged almost one and a half million women to play sports in the 148 races held since that first edition. . And the reason for its creation is still valid: “to incorporate women into the practice of running and physical exercise, to vindicate their role in the world of sports and to fight against cancer, especially breast cancer, which affects so many women.” women of adulthood.”
Likewise, the test has always raised funds to promote cancer research and raise awareness about the importance of early prevention, as well as combating gender violence and the social and educational inequalities suffered by women in all areas. In total, the amount donated in these previous 19 years has amounted to 1,779,277 euros, most of which went to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
Furthermore, in Seville there is the possibility of purchasing 100% solidarity bibs in favor of the Association of Women Affected by Breast Cancer (AMAMA Sevilla), with which the organization has actively collaborated in recent editions. Participants can also collaborate, within the +SOLIDARIAS campaign, with Acción del Voluntariado, a non-profit association that was born 8 years ago with the idea of projecting the importance of volunteering and cooperation among young people and adults.
At the end of the circuit, a contribution of 80,000 euros will be made to the AECC and in this 2024 edition of the 20th anniversary of the Central Lechera Asturiana Women’s Race, donations of 1,000 euros will also be made to Wanawake Mujer, GEICAM Foundation, the Clara Campoamor Association and Intravenus.
It will also be possible to register for free for the ‘virtual’ races in the nine host cities of the national circuit, which will allow runners who wish to complete the 5 kilometers individually anywhere in the world. Registration for the virtual test will also include the option to receive the official Oysho t-shirt for the 2024 Women’s Race.
