Jean Charles Carré, judo teacher, runs 4 classes in Layrac, on Mondays and Thursdays. Around forty young people are registered for the entire club. On Monday evening, at 5:30 p.m., after school, the 4 and 5 year olds are on the tatami mats. There were 12 of them last Monday and Jean Charles told us that 4 were missing. As soon as they are dressed in their kimono, with the help of mom or dad and often the teacher who sees them more as his children than as from simple students, they become “fighters”. Obviously, we must channel their energy. This is what the teacher does by reminding us that Santa Claus is coming in a month, and that it is better to follow the rules. That being said, when the children are lined up on the mat, it is a salute respectful of the centuries-old traditions of judo. The teacher reviews the movements learned during the last session: back fall, ground control: these are the foundations of a judoka career and perhaps the beginnings of a champion.
After the little ones, the session for 6/13 year olds will come from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This same group will return on Thursday, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A course for adults will follow, always on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There are not very many of them: 6 or 7, but the group is just waiting to grow. IT is never too late to register: come at the start of the course or contact the president, Ms. Cathy Pons.
