EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO. – The APEC Distance Education Centers (Cenapec), in agreement with Major League Baseball (MLB), have a training program for young prospects, which allows them to complete secondary level and break certain social stereotypes.
This was confirmed by the president of Cenapec, Harold Molina Boggiano, during a courtesy visit to Persio Maldonado, director of El Nuevo Diario, where he assured that this program is carried out in agreement with the MLB Baseball Academies, based in the Dominican Republic. .
He explained that this program intends for them to be able to finish their high school diploma while fulfilling all their sporting responsibilities.
Classes are taught virtually or In-House, in the latter the tutors go to the academies, to cover a schedule of 4 hours a week.
With the educational project, dozens of athletes are trained, who in search of the dream of reaching the major leagues, do not always have the time to study in the regular mode.
The entity works with around 16 academies, which represent 50% of those in the country; for 16 years and to date it offers its academic program to the majority of them.
“With Major League and the academies, we have an excellent relationship because they have truly given a lot of importance to the program,” said Molina Boggiano.

During the graduation of the 2022-2023 class, held in February of this year, the MLB management highlighted that through this program athletes from Major League academies are allowed to obtain a Bachelor’s degree, while They train to become professional baseball players.
So far, Cenapec has accompanied the graduations of the New York Mets, Kansas City Royal, Los Dodgers, Los Piratas and New York Yankees academies.
With this program, the institution provides them with schooling in their own space so that they can improve in other areas, in case they cannot achieve their goal in this sport.
