Chelsea Grin took Groove by storm

Chelsea Grin took Buenos Aires by storm and it was clear why it continues to influence many emerging bands on the metal scene. Guttural vocals, technical riffs, and powerful breakdowns were part of the repertoire they showed on Groove.

Coming from Salt Lake City, Utah, they are a reference for Deathcore, and continue to set the pace for current metalcore. Chelsea Grin currently consists of David Flinn (Bass), Stephen Rutishauser (guitar), Tom Barber (vocals), and the recent addition of Josh “Baby J” Miller (drums).

Miller is recognized for his work as a multi-instrumentalist, producer and former member of the Connecticut-based American band Emmure, and is currently also part of the band DARKO US (a project he has shared with Tom Barber since 2020).

The Americans took the stage with fury and played a setlist with some of their hits (“Sing to the grave”, “Hostage”, “Recreant”) that made the audience vibrate. Tom Barber exhibited his technical skills going from deep gutturals to screams and led the show. David Flinn and Stephen Rutishauser delivered theirs with devastating bases, riffs and breakdowns. Josh Miller on drums showed why he is one of the current drummers and metal musicians, who is worth going to see live.

Descarnado and NVLO opened the Noiseground date. Raw with his aggressive Technical Death Metal, he opened the show and with a forceful sound he did not disappoint. Then, it was the turn of NVLO, with an ascending trajectory in the national metal scene. They had a solid performance and their style, which fuses elements of Hardcore and Death, stole the ice to make way for Chelsea Grin. NVLO is one of the most promising bands nationwide and they will perform again in December, at the Flores Theater. And then it was the turn of Chelsea Grin, who will be performing in Mexico in the coming days.
