Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton was a little boy’s guardian angel after his team’s 30-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. After the game, he fell headfirst from the stands, but was caught by the 26-year-old.
Wharton and his teammates were on their way to the locker room when several children tried to get the players’ attention and perhaps a piece of their equipment. A video on social media showsas a little boy in linebacker Nick Bolton’s jersey pushes himself to the edge of the stands – right into a gap in the railing. There he leans over a cable, but then loses his balance and falls headfirst from a height of two to three meters. However, Wharton, who was running towards him, was paying attention, caught the boy and lifted the – visibly shocked – autograph hunter back into the stands.
A man can then be seen shouting: “Go back to your seats! This child just fell down.” Fortunately, the boy appears to be uninjured.
