During an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Donovan said the couple’s romance is entirely sincere, even if it benefits the Chiefs organization. “I’d love to say this was a marketing ploy, but this is a real relationship,” Donovan said. “And we’re glad to have it. That was a good thing for us.”

Donovan was responding to a question about the increased interest surrounding the NFL due to the high-profile relationship between the Chiefs tight end and the pop superstar. He emphasized that Swift is a true fan of the team. Some online theorists have suggested that Kelce and Swift’s relationship could have been a publicity stunt.

Last September, Kelce’s representative at Full Scope PR denied these rumors, presenting unconfirmed documents suggesting their relationship was “completely false and fabricated.”

“We have hired our legal team to commence litigation against the individuals or entities responsible for the illegal and harmful falsification of documents,” Full Scope PR said at the time. This isn’t the first time Donovan has revealed that Swift is a true Chiefs fan. In a September interview, he explained how the organization took steps to respect both Swift and the couple’s privacy, and acknowledged the unique attention Swift brings due to her significant fan base.
