Christo Popov beats his brother in the final

Fosse’s Christo Popov won the Hylo Open (Super 300) in Germany this afternoon, dominating his older brother Toma Junior Popov in the final.

A 100% one-sided Popov final. Fosséen Christo Popov (28th in the world, seeded 4) largely dominated his brother Toma Junior (18th in the world, seeded number 3) 21/13, 21/10 to win the Super 300 Hylo Open tournament.

The German tournaments are definitely going well for Christo Popov who had already won the German Open (Super 300) in March. It was then his first title on the world circuit. He now has a second one on his list (which also includes, notably, three senior French championship titles in singles and two in doubles with his brother with whom he competed in the Olympics this summer in Paris).

“Germany is a success for me. I am very happy to win my second title. I am also more than happy to share the podium with my brother. It is above all a victory for the team. We prepared for the match like “habit even if it’s always special to face your brother. Today, it turned towards the one who was in the best shape.” reacted Christo Popov.

In doubles, the two brothers lost last night in the 1/2 final of the Hylo Open against the Danish pair Kjaer / Soogard 21/14, 21/9.

Note that Badminton Club Fos leaves Germany with another title since Mia Blichfeld won the women’s singles at the Hylo Open without losing a single set during the entire tournament. The Dane, 36th in the world and new graduate of the BCF, beat the Indian Bansod (34th in the world) in the final 21/10, 21/15.
