Coach bang in the NFL! The New Orleans Saints have pulled the ripcord and fired head coach Dennis Allen. The franchise from the US state of Louisiana announced this one day after the disappointing 22:23 at the Carolina Panthers.
After a good start to the season with two wins in the first two games, a bitter series of defeats followed for the Saints. The short one Defeat against division rivals was already the seventh defeat in a row and only the second success for the Panthers, who were also in crisis.
Injuries slow Saints down
Another reason for the series of defeats was probably a large number of injuries, which affected, among others, the cornerback duo of Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo.
Allen took over the coaching job from Sean Payton in 2022 after previously serving as defensive coordinator for six years. Overall, he has a record of 18 wins and 25 defeats.
A possible successor is not yet known. Darren Rizzi, previously the Saints’ special teams coordinator, will take over as interim coach.
