After the end of badminton tournament, volleyball and basketball tournaments in men’s category and table tennis tournaments in women’s and men’s categories are being organized on 25th and 26th October.
Let us tell you that only teams of five-six colleges could participate in men’s badminton. The situation in volleyball, basketball and table tennis tournaments in men’s and women’s categories was also similar. Only a few colleges participated in these three competitions. Only ten college teams could participate in men’s volleyball, five in men’s basketball, two in table tennis and three in women’s. Despite instructions from the university, most of the colleges have not been able to send their teams. In this way, most of the colleges are flouting the orders of the university administration regarding inter-college sports tournaments.
It is known that before the start of the tournament, a letter was issued to all the colleges instructing them to send teams. Despite this, most of the colleges did not take interest in it. Let us tell you that this situation usually exists every year in inter college sports tournaments. Not all colleges send their own teams. Apart from the affiliated colleges, there are also constituent colleges among those who did not send the team.
Colleges charge Rs. per student in sports fund. There are 19 constituent and more than 60 affiliated colleges under the university. In every college, fees are collected from students for sports. At the same time, when it comes to sending the team, many constituent and affiliated colleges shy away. Let us tell you that the college charges Rs 60 as sports fee per student. In this, Rs 30 per student is sent to the university by the college, while the remaining amount is to be spent on sports and players in the college.
But, the colleges are not interested in spending it in the inter college sports tournament of Veer Kunwar Singh University. In this way, the sports fee is not being utilized properly by the students. Due to this, the talent of better players and students is not coming out in the university.
