Comments from Atsuyuki Kawasaki, President and Representative Director on the 10th anniversary of Ibaraki Robots | Ibaraki Robots

Thank you very much for your continued support of Ibaraki Robots.

On November 13, 2024, Ibaraki Robots celebrated its 10th anniversary since its founding.
We are able to reach this milestone thanks to all of our fans, local residents, and sponsors who have always supported us, as well as all of the players, teams, and staff who have been involved in the club’s history. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Following the bankruptcy of the old company in 2013, the first representative, Takushi Yamatani, decided to carry Ibaraki basketball into the future, moved the base from Tsukuba to Mito in 2016, and changed the team name to “Ibaraki Robots”. I did.
In 2021, he achieved his long-held dream of being promoted to B1. It was a time when robots overcame various difficulties, including the “Iwaki Tragedy,” and with the spirit of “Robots will never give up,” continued efforts and miracles occurred.

After being promoted to B1, under the second president, Daisuke Nishimura, we have created a club environment befitting a top league. Last year, we achieved an average audience of 4,619 people and sales of over 1.2 billion yen, and with the cooperation of Mito City, we set a course for acquiring the B.LEAGUE PREMIER license, which will lead to the B.Premier two years later.

In July 2024, I became the third representative. If Yamaya’s era is “Ki” and Nishimura’s is “Sho”, we are now in the “Ten” era. In order for Ibaraki Robots to further grow and become stronger toward its goal of becoming number one in Japan in 2031, I took over the role of president with the mindset of “protecting what should be protected and changing what should be changed.”
First, we will improve the environment for the team and club by strengthening management, and we will also work on renovating the practice field and arena to premier specifications. Centered on basketball, we develop regional development projects such as M-SPO and M-GARDEN, and in collaboration with LuckyFM Ibaraki Broadcasting and public art, we continue to create regional experiential value and provide unique value. I’m going.
Ibaraki Robots has “Japan’s No. 1” fans. The audience, which once numbered in the hundreds, now exceeds 4,000, and the circle of support continues to expand. In order to respond to everyone’s support, we will build a proud team that can proudly say “I am ROBOTS”. We hope that more and more people will look forward to the growth of the Robots, and that we will continue to be a club loved by the local community as we take on challenges for the future.

We sincerely ask for your continued support and encouragement.
