Controls on the workplace: Umbrian entrepreneur reported
Controls on the premises – I Bettona Carabinieri together with Perugia Labor Inspectorate Unit have referred a local agricultural entrepreneur to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for serious violations regarding workplace safety and regularity of hiring. During an inspection in an agricultural company dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards, significant deficiencies were found with respect to legal obligations, with particular regard to measures to protect the health of workers, many of whom are non-EU citizens employed as seasonal workers.
The inspection is part of an operation aimed at combating irregular work and verifying compliance with the workplace safety regulations envisaged by the D.Lgs. 81/2008. At the end of the checks, it emerged that the company had not designated a prevention service manager, in contravention of what was established by theArt. 17 of the decree in question. In addition, a competent doctor was not appointed, a violation specified byArt. 18nor were the necessary preventive health surveillance procedures carried out, which are mandatory according to the provisions Articles 18 and 41 of the same decree.
These omissions represent serious violations of the legislation on health and safety in the workplace, with direct risks for the safety of employees. Following these findings, the company’s legal representative was reported in a state of freedom to the Public Prosecutor’s Office Court of Perugia. In addition to the complaint, the authorities imposed administrative sanctions totaling approximately 15.000 euro for various non-compliances punishable with financial fines.
This operation is part of a framework of systematic actions by the Carabinieri, aimed at guaranteeing working conditions compliant with safety standards, especially in sectors such as agriculture, where seasonality and the presence of foreign workers require greater attention.
