Crowd success for the badminton tournament BC Loverval ! With 180 registered, the tournament has, over time, become a reference in the region and in the small world of badminton, as its President confides, Etienne Doumont :
“We have been organizing tournaments since 1979. We have a little know-how and we also benefit from great facilities. This allows us to offer good quality events to players. We have almost 500 people who are present throughout the weekend.”
Doubles matches are organized on Saturday, which is the busiest day in terms of schedules. Sunday, time for singles. To manage and organize a tournament with so many participants, careful organization and a united team are necessary:
“We have nine fields and more registered than last year. We have two teams involved: one at the bar level, and a team which supervises the sporting side. There are around ten of them, and they program the matches of the week -end.”
The president can count on the youth of the club, who are part of the organization, like Baptiste Rochet :
“The players seem happy with the organization. We have more and more people helping at club level. In terms of matches, we have more registered than usual so we have more meetings, It’s a bit of a rush. I also have a walkie-talkie to notify those who manage the matches as soon as a match ends.”
This organization is also praised by the players, who return year after year to participate in tournaments. In total, nearly 300 matches are organized in just two days. The club’s next tournament will take place in April 2025, and there is no doubt that the bad players will be there!
