Cus Siena Judo, Yuri Ferretti and Enrico Tommasi shine at the world championships in Las Vegas

The event took place in the splendid setting of the Rio hotel in Las Vegas (USA). Judo Kata World Championship on November 9-10.
Among the athletes called up to represent the Italian tricolor there was also Sienese Yuri Ferrettiof the company Cus Sienapaired with Enrico Tommasi of Yawara Verona.
The couple was called up as first in the national A1 ranking in the Kime no kata discipline.

This World Championship was a competition of the highest level, one of the world championships with the largest participation eversaw the participation of 32 nations, in kime no Kata there were 32 athletes competing for the coveted medals.
The competition took place in two phases, the preliminary phase where the couples were divided into two groups and at the end of the first round of performances only the first three couples from each group could access the final.
As soon as the draw came out, the race proved to be very difficult, having to immediately challenge pairs of the caliber of the French Marques-Bega (current world vice champions), the strong Koreans (already finalists in previous years), the Spanish, the Dutch and others very strong and titled couples.

The Italian couple, aware of their potential, faced the preliminaries with great determination and decision, seeking high precision technique after technique, finishing third in their group and thus managing to access the final.
Thanks to the advice of Masters Cesare Amorosi (head of the national delegation) and Master Daniele Mainenti (technician of the couple), connected from Italy, they managed to make small improvements, managing to gain 4 points more than the first execution and making them gain a ‘excellent fifth place.
For the couple it was the first World Championship togethernot even 10 months after the first race together fifth place it’s a huge achievement which adds to the Italian A1 title won in July and the bronze of the senior European championship won in Sarajevo last June.
Yuri Ferretti, also in America, commented: “I am happy with how we did our performances, both the first of the preliminaries and the final. I’m just sorry we weren’t able to get on the podium because we came really close, this result will be an incentive for us to always do better.

After this excellent result, the season is not yet over for the two athletes as they will have to return to the tatami in two weeks in the Italian Championship for regional teams which will take place in Verona.
