David Pieris Group (DPG) this week announced an outstanding performance at the 40th MBA Inter-Firm Team Badminton Championships 2024, where the team clinched fourth place in the overall championship standings.
This remarkable accomplishment marks a significant leap from their previous position, reflecting the Group’s competitive spirit and dedication to excellence.
Competing against 56 organisations and 223 teams across nine categories, the DPG emerged as a powerful contender, bringing home an impressive array of awards including four championship titles, three runners-up titles, one third-place title, and one fourth-place title.
DPG teams demonstrated a stellar performance – one with exceptional skill and resilience throughout the competition, securing four coveted championship titles – Men’s Team A (C Division), Mixed Team A (C Division), Mixed Team C (F Division), and Men’s Over 40 Team A (C Division).
Highlighting DPG’s impressive performances, three of its talented players were awarded Best Player accolades in recognition of their achievements across four categories: Wishan Perera – Best Player, Men’s Over 40 Team Event “C” Division; Promoddya Ranaweera – Best Player, Men’s Team Event “C” Division; Promoddya Ranaweera – Best Player, Mixed Team Event “C” Division, and Chathuranga Meegahawatta – Best Player, Mixed Team Event “F” Division.
