AUSTERLITZ The first 10 minutes belonged to Schalkwijk, but Schalkwijk’s sights were not focused. Austerlitz was occasionally able to counter-attack, but had little to contribute offensively.
The first real achievement came in the 7th minute, but Schalkwijk handled the opportunity sloppily. In the 9th minute, goalkeeper Damian Helsdingen was in the right place with an effort from close range. In the 19th minute there was the first serious chance for Austerlitz, but could do little with it. In the 25th minute there was the second big chance for Schalkwijk, but once again Damian Helsdingen was in the right place. Also in the 39th minute Damian Helsdingen had to take action again with a high cross. The score was 0-0.
WIND MEE
In the second half, with the wind following, Austerlitz took the initiative and in the 47th minute Schalkwijk was lucky that a mishit return ball fell into the hands of the keeper. Austerlitz took a 0-1 lead in the 50th minute when deep-sent Olaf Prins scored beautifully from the back line. In this phase Austerlitz should have gotten more out of it offensively, but fell short offensively.
In the 60th minute Schalkwijk made it 1-1, when after a foul Schalkwijk was awarded a dubious penalty kick by the confusingly whistling referee, which was flawlessly shot 1-1. Austerlitz had little further input. Sem van Stijnvoort was unlucky with a header from a corner in the 67th minute.
The match did not become more pleasant, partly due to the referee’s input. In the 73rd minute, Austerlitz was lucky that a serious foul was not punished with a red card. Schalkwijk should have scored from the free kick awarded with a ball that went wide. In the 82nd minute, the hitherto flawless goalkeeper Damian Helsdingen had no control over a long shot and Schalkwijk was able to score on the rebound, 2-1.
In an all or nothing attempt, Austerlitz went for the 2-2, but had to be alert with a countering Schalkwijk. In the 3rd minute of injury time, Schalkwijk countered to a 3-1 victory and with this victory the team won its first period title.
