Diego Forlán lost, but enjoyed his debut in professional tennis

It was a special match in the Challeger «Uruguay Open» tournament that is played at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis, despite the fact that Forlan suffered a defeat together with the Argentine Federico Coria against the Bolivian duo made up of Boris Arias and Federico Zeballos.

The former record holder in goals for the Uruguayan soccer team, and best player at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, was constantly applauded despite the differences in level with his opponents.

The Uruguayan-Argentine duo fell 1-6 and 2-6, but the score did not matter for the support they had from the stands, packed and with more than 60 journalists and photographers accredited for the occasion.

Diego Forlán said that he enjoyed the game and the support of the public in a sport that he practiced since he was young, although it was soccer that brought him to international fame.
