Having suffered three consecutive defeats, the Dallas Mavericks appear on the Utah Jazz’s court to get their seasonal record back on track, which up until now has been characterized more by defeats than victories. Jason Kidd is forced to give up PJ Washington again, but also Kyrie Irving, and therefore relies almost exclusively on the usual Luka Doncic. The Slovenian did not disappoint, scoring a game of 37 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds, numbers which however were not enough for the Mavs to return to success. The Texans were in fact surprised by the greater compactness of Utah, who won 115-113 at the final buzzer. After a balanced first half and closed ahead 64-61 by Dallas, the Jazz ran away in the third quarter: John Collins (28 points and 9 rebounds) and Jordan Clarkson (20 points) led coach Will Hardy’s team. Utah then enters the final quarter with a 99-85 lead, but then suddenly goes out. In fact, the Jazz’s attack scores only 16 points in the fourth period, while Dallas gets back into the game also thanks to Klay Thompson: a triple from the former Golden State Warriors ties the score at 113 thirty seconds from the siren. Collins then takes care of securing the final 115-113 for Utah, with an assist from Clarkson, while Marshall misses the triple of a possible victory for the Mavs on the opposite side. Thanks to this success, the Jazz begin to move their rankings again, rising to 3 wins and 8 defeats: Utah still remains at the bottom of the Western Conference, together with the New Orleans Pelicans. Dallas instead suffers their fourth consecutive defeat and remains outside the play-off and play-in zone, with a record of 5 games won and 7 lost: a truly complicated start to the season for Doncic and his teammates.
