Despite the 2-1 win against RB Leipzig on matchday 9 of the German Bundesliga (match report>>>), Borussia Dortmund is worried about Marcel Sabitzer.
The ÖFB team player had to be substituted in the 67th minute because the 30-year-old was suffering from muscular problems in the calf area. Ayman Azhil came on for the midfielder and was shown a yellow card in added time.
While the severity of Sabitzer’s muscular injury is still unknown, BVB head coach Nuri Sahin told Sky: “He had to go out. And when ‘Sabi’ has to go out, that usually doesn’t mean anything good. The muscle has closed.”
The injury could therefore possibly have an impact on the upcoming Nations League games against Kazakhstan (November 14th) and Slovenia (November 17th).
Sabitzer recovered from a back injury in September, and in the Nations League match against Norway on October 13th, the ÖFB legionnaire ended the game with a makeshift bandage due to a head injury.
