DTB talent Chantal Sauvant defeats the final flight

Respectful success for German tennis! Chantal Sauvant won her fourth tournament on the ITF tour in Antalya (W15) and defeated a personal curse in the process. However, the 22-year-old’s success against the Spaniard Sara Dols, who is three years younger, also raises some questions.

After around 2:06 hours, the German tennis player Chantal Sauvant (number 598 in the world rankings) used her first match point to secure her first tournament victory of 2024. Sauvant defeated the Spanish Sara Dols (number 780 in the world rankings) 3:6, 6:2 and 6:1 in the final in Antalya (W15).

What is particularly noteworthy is the course of the first set, in which Sauvant was not able to get through her serve once. But that’s not all: Dols also lost her first three service games and only didn’t face a break point in the last game of the first round.

In total, the duel offered 13 breaks, with Dols being able to use five of six opportunities to take Sauvant’s serve. The German, for her part, converted eight of 15 break chances into something countable.

Sauvant ends negative series

By the way, with her clear success in the end, the DTB representative defeated a personal curse. In her career, Sauvant had already reached the final in Antalya three times, but had to admit defeat each time. This series has finally come to an end.

The success gives Sauvant 15 more world ranking points and thus a set of more than 50 places in the ranking. This brings her closer to her previous best ranking of 523rd. Dols even climbs to a new personal top ranking (710th place).

Before her latest final coup, Sauvant won in Bucharest (Romania/W15) and Casablanca (Morocco/W15) in 2022 and in Valencia (Spain/W15) in 2023.
