Ovulation – Justin Otholt and Nick Büsing from SV Brake are district cup winners in e-football. They beat the second team from FC SF Godensholt in the final on Saturday in Ovelgönne. Godensholter Erste took third place in the VGH Masters. 13 teams from the Jade-Weser-Hunte district association took part. Also at the start from the Wesermarsch were hosts SC Ovelgönne, last year’s winners FC Stollhamm and the Berne game association.
exclamation mark
The Brakers had already made an exclamation mark in the first game. They defeated Stollhamm. However, the Stollhammer did not arrive with the best line-up, says Otholt. The Butjenters were eliminated after the preliminary round.
The Brakers then suffered a narrow defeat against their later opponents in the final. “You noticed that you had to get used to it a little,” says Otholt.
However, he sat down confidently at the tables in the SC Ovelgönne clubhouse. After all, he has been playing for a long time – and successfully. Among other things, he won the “Werder Esports Fifa 21 Cup Qualifiers” in the Weser Stadium in 2021 – in singles.
Lots of experience
He has also been gaming with his teammate Nick Büsing for a long time – against each other and together in co-op mode. “Two-on-two is something completely different,” says Otholt. The two have the chance to get even better at one another until February 1st next year. Then they fight for the Lower Saxony championship. “It will be a unique experience,” believes Otholt. He certainly sees opportunities for his team, but suspects that the opponents will be even stronger than in Ovelgönne.
Strong team
For Otholt and Büsing it works on the console and also on the football field. You play for the reserve team of SV Brake. The team around captain Marc Speer is second in the table in the 2nd district class (season 3) and is therefore in a promotion place. The Brakers are level on points with league leaders FC Mariensiel. The two top teams are undefeated.
The team performed well last season, says Otholt. This year things are going really well thanks to some reinforcements. “We are well-rehearsed and the mood in the team is good,” says Otholt. He believes that the team can achieve promotion to the 1st district class.
Coach of the D-Jugend
Otholt passes on his experience as a player to young footballers. He trains SV Brake’s first D youth team. According to Otholt, the team, which was almost completely reassembled, took fourth place in group one of the qualifying round in the 1st district class. The team had to struggle with many injuries and absences due to illness, says Otholt.
But he is an optimist through and through. In the second half of the season he and his team are aiming for one of the top two places. He proved on Saturday in Ovelgönne that he can be successful with his positive attitude.
