Eagles vs. Commanders: Barkley show decides NFC hit

The NFL is entering its 11th game day. At the start there is a real cracker from the NFC East: The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders.

Statement victory for the Eagles. With a 26:18 win over the Washington Commanders, Philadelphia consolidated its lead in the NFC East.

The outstanding man on the Eagles’ side was once again Saquon Barkley. The running back ended up with 146 rushing yards and made the decision with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The running back, who came from the New York Giants before the season, is currently overtaking Derrick Henry (Baltimore Ravens) and is at the top of the NFL in terms of yards run so far this season (1,137).

“Philly” had to get through a difficult phase at times.

Jalen Hurts was pushed to the turf by Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu in the second quarter, and the $255 million quarterback’s head hit the ground. Hurts rolled facedown and reached for his helmet.

He was checked for a concussion in the sideline medical tent, but returned to the game and finished the game with 221 passing yards.

Running back Brian Robinson Jr (first quarter) and tight end Zach Ertz scored the two Commanders touchdowns after a pass from rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels (fourth quarter).

Otherwise, the Eagles defense largely had Washington under control. In particular, rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell ensured that star receiver Terry McLaurin played no role at all (one catch, ten yards).

Both teams still have their sights set on playoff participation; the Eagles are just ahead of Washington in the division with their eight wins and only two defeats. With a win, the Commanders could have moved into first place.
