The Terralba Judo group returns from Riccione with two gold, five silver and four bronze medals won at the Csen national championship. Highlights on the first step of the podium were Andrea Meloni (30kg boys category) and Alessio Loi (+90kg cadet category).
Second place was won by Simone Diana (30 kg children’s category), Lyam Moreggi and Bryan Ucceddu (both children’s category), Cristian Loi (+81 kg ex.B category) and Marica Spanu (+70 kg cadets category).
The bronze was taken home by Gabriele Spanu (39 kg in the boys category), Sofia and Emma Abdellatif (40 kg and 63 kg respectively, both in the ex.B category) and Jacopo Atzori (50 kg in the cadet category).
Good placings also for Mattia Manca, who took fifth place in the ex.B category (50 kg) and for Giacomo Scintu, seventh in the Under 23 category (73 kg)
The competition – at the weekend – was divided between two days: on Saturday the categories of children, teenagers and beginners A and B competed, while on Sunday cadets, juniors and seniors competed on the tatami.
“It was a very difficult race, with over 1,400 participants from all over Italy, but our 14 athletes performed well,” commented coach Giovanni Spanu. “Now the next trip to Senigallia awaits us, in two weeks”.
“I thank the boys so much who every time they get on the tatami they give their all and give everything, even if sometimes it’s not enough to bring home the victory,” concluded the coach.
