ROVIGO – The location has changed, but the success is always the same. Even the third edition of “Dinner in the dark” organized by Baseball Softball Club it ended with appreciation and consensus. The event to raise awareness of the world of visual impairment, included in a broader project of Cariparo Foundationtook place on Wednesday 6 November at the Hotel Cristallo in Rovigo, thanks also to the precious support of Fineco Bank.
Two other partners of the rossoblù club also participated in the evening, Itas Mutua and Bedendo Prefabbricati, but above all dozens and dozens of friends and supporters, who had the opportunity to experience visual disability by experiencing firsthand the daily sensations and habits of blind people. Available places during the booking phase sold out in record time.
The entire dinner, as usual, was eaten in total darkness. After the greetings, the participants sat at the tables set up in a completely darkened room. With great availability, some blind people, including athletes from the rossoblù baseball team for the blind, took on the roles of special waiters, accompanying the participants to their respective seats and serving the courses. Thanks to their sensitivity and their help, everyone made the most of the unusual situation, discovering new sensations, dictated above all by the fact of not being able to first see the foods that were gradually being tasted.
At the end of the evening the lights came back on to present and thank all those who made the organization of the “Dinner in the dark” possible. The testimonies brought by the blind “waiters for a day” were very moving. Their words, combined with the sensations felt by the guests during the entire dinner, made the evening truly special. A unique experience, which confirms the strong commitment of the Baseball Softball Club on the social and inclusion front and the validity of a format that will certainly be replicated in the future.
