Injured in the hamstrings, Dak Prescott plans to undergo surgery this Wednesday. It was Jerry Jones who announced it on a local radio station. This was later confirmed by NFL Media.
This means that his season is over. We will therefore no longer see the Cowboys quarterback in the 2024 season. The hope is therefore to see him fully restored for the start of the 2025 season.
Not yet placed on the injured list, Jerry Jones had already announced that Prescott would be absent for an indefinite period. The rumors went even further, where the threat of an end to the season could not be ruled out. This is therefore the case today in a season to forget for the quarterback, recently extended at a high price.
Cooper Rush or Trey Lance to replace Dak Prescott?
Only 3rd in the NFC East with a sad record of 3 wins for 6 losses, the Cowboys’ chances of qualifying for the playoffs are dwindling. Injured during the match against the Falcons, Dak Prescott was set to have an average season. In 8 games, he threw for 65% completions, with 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.
To replace him, Mike McCarthy will have to make a choice between Cooper Rush and Trey Lance. The first hardly convinced against the Eagles, returning a record of 13/23 for barely 45 yards, with 2 lost fumbles. The second didn’t do much better, even throwing an interception.
The days to come will therefore be complicated for Mike McCarthy and his offensive staff.
