With a delegation of 360 people, Entre Ríos competes in the Evita Games in Mar del Plata from this Monday to Saturday, November 9. The province participates in 36 youth and adapted sports disciplines, highlighting the state’s commitment to sports development.
On last Sunday, the buses with the Entre Ríos delegation left from different points of the province towards Mar del Plata to participate in the Evita 2024 National Sports Games.
This event is the main sports competition in Argentina, bringing together around 8,000 children and young people from all over the country in the Under 13, Under 14, Under 15, Under 16 and Under 18 categories (adapted sport) in a program that includes 36 disciplines in multiple stages in the city and opening ceremony at the Polideportivo Islas Malvinas stadium.
Entre Ríos’ participation in the Evita Games is the result of a year of preparation and competition, in which more than 25,000 athletes participated in the Entre Ríos 2024 Sports Games, mobilizing young people and older adults from across the province and involving an investment of 454 millions of pesos.
For this final stage in Mar del Plata, the provincial State allocated 52 million in transportation and 136 million in accommodation and food, supporting provincial sports in this large-scale national event.
Competitions and game scenarios
Entre Ríos competes in adapted sports in seven disciplines: athletics, 3×3 basketball, boccia, goalball, swimming, table tennis and sitting volleyball. In the youth category, the delegation participates in various disciplines, including athletics, badminton, 3×3 basketball, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, hockey 7, judo, swimming, men’s rugby 7, skateboarding, taekwondo, tennis, shooting and volleyball.
The main venues for the competitions are the Islas Malvinas Sports Center and the Municipal Sports and Recreation Entity (Emder) complex, where athletics and swimming will take place, respectively. In addition, urban sports such as skateboarding and BMX Freestyle are carried out in the Skatepark, while the beaches of Mar del Plata host volleyball and beach handball competitions. Adapted sports, including wheelchair basketball, boccia and goalball, have their space at the Libertad Sports Center and the Malvinas Former Combatant Soldiers Center.
Other notable venues include the Volleyball Talent Development Center (Cedetalvo) and Santa Cecilia for conventional volleyball, the municipal field hockey field for 7-a-side hockey, and the Villa Marista for 7-a-side rugby. Tennis is played at the Edison Lawn Tennis and the Banco Provincia Club. Likewise, the Punta Mogotes complex hosts cycling and canoeing events, and the No. 1 Physical Education Center hosts table tennis, judo, wrestling and fencing.
