Arrested in 2022, the 45-year-old man admitted his guilt to one count out of four. The other charges, sexual assault and sexual interference, were dropped.
The events occurred at the accused’s home between 2010 and 2012, for approximately a year.
At the time of the incident, the victim was an elite basketball player at the school. At the hearing Tuesday, the parties could not agree on his age at the time of the abuse. However, they agreed that the abuse took place over a period of one year.
According to the facts, Mr. Boislard had sexual relations on several occasions, sometimes up to three or four times a week, while he was in a position of authority.
The trial of Charles-Xavier Boislard was scheduled to begin Monday. Now the accused faces a heavy sentence. His sentence will be known in 2025.
“The Supreme Court’s Friesen decision addresses this offense. […] This is certainly what the prosecution will invoke when determining the sentence,” said the criminal and penal prosecutor in the case, Me Jérôme Laflamme.
In the same case, two other former coaches at Saint-Laurent high school also face charges of sexual assault. They were also arrested in February 2022. Mr. Lacasse began his trial last month. It is expected to continue after the holidays, while Luu’s trial will take place in 2025.
