The regional Judo championships took place over the weekend in Arenzano. Due to a competitive commitment canceled on Sunday, the Simonazzi Judo Club participated only in the Saturday day which saw the Cadets (2007-2008-2009) and Beginners (2010-2011) categories involved. There were eight athletes involved in the competition day, three of which returned to the tatami for both training and competition after a long stop that lasted years. Below are the excellent results obtained.
For the cadet class:
Francesca Lanzafame 1st place in the female 48KG category
Alessia Calimera 2nd place in the female 63Kg category
Angelo Paternò 5th place in the men’s 60kg cadet category
Andrè Paternò 7th place cat 73Kg cadets
Nothing accomplished but a lot of determination and an excellent judo performance for Francesco Quaglia (cat 66kg) and Rayan Anis (cat 60Kg).
For the rookie class B
Nicole Vicari 2nd place in the female 52Kg category
Gabriele Scarfo’ 5th place in the men’s 73Kg category
Note of merit for the three athletes Angelo and Andrè Paternò and Gabriele Scarfò who, after years of stopping, returned to the training and competition mat, resuming the path they had interrupted when they were still in the pre-competitive categories. Technician Quaglia Filippo from Judo Simonazzi thanks the kids and families who constantly support us.
