Extremaduran Manuel Calero is proclaimed double runner-up in Spain in badminton

The Cura Mora Sports Association and Extremeño Badminton are once again in congratulations with the achievement of their player Manuel Calero Riveiro of the double Runner-up of Spain in the men’s singles and doubles modalities in the Spanish Under 23 Championship held in Lanzarote on the 22nd. November 23 and 24.

Calero had a very complete men’s individual competition, overcoming four highly demanding rounds before reaching the final. It is worth highlighting his semi-final match against Alejandro Baschwitz from Madrid in three sets and in the latter with physical problems that he also overcame and qualified for the final, where he finally could not achieve victory against Miguel Esteve from Alicante in two sets.

In the doubles category, together with his partner Jorge Jerez, they surpassed the three previous rounds in closely contested but very regular matches. In the final they were unable to beat the seeds of the competition and won the well-deserved silver medal.

Manuel Calero is called to be one of the most important future players in Spain in the senior category starting next season, due to his technical, tactical, physical and mental level.
