Saint Dominic.- The family of Ismael Ureña Pérez, a 14-year-old boy who died after supposedly receiving a steroid injection at the Yordy Cabrera Baseball Academy, reported that they are being threatened while demanding justice for the minor’s death.
«To all the people who are threatening us, let them know that nothing can happen to us. All we want is justice. They tell us that they are going to beat us up, that we can’t even go out on the street. Since this happened, we have not been able to get out of here,” said Joel Ureña, brother of the deceased.
Iris Pérez, the young man’s mother, called on the authorities to do justice in this case.
«It wasn’t a dog that was killed, it was my son. He left us all with a pain in our hearts, and he turns his back on us. If he had faced us, everything would be different, but it wasn’t like that. Now, what we want is justice.”
Another brother, Emeilin Ureña, who also trained at the academy, revealed that the coach offered him an injection to increase his speed as a thrower, but he decided to walk away after lowering the speed at which he threw and experiencing pain.
«He told me that he was going to inject me with something to increase the miles when I hit. But instead of raising them, I lowered them, and my leg hurt a lot. That’s why I decided to leave and return home,” said Emeilin.
