The NFL season is slowly but surely approaching the crucial weeks and for Fantasy Football It is becoming increasingly important for managers to make the right decisions when setting up. There are some interesting injury updates and personnel details to note before matchday 12.
Quarterback concerns for the 49ers.
The biggest surprise of the week is definitely the loss of Brock Purdy to the San Francisco 49ers. The young quarterback is suffering from a shoulder injury on his throwing arm and will not be able to play against the Green Bay Packers. Instead, Brandon Allen will lead the Niners’ offense.
This obviously has implications for the fantasy relevance of San Francisco’s skill position players. Wide receivers like Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings have to be revised down in the rankings and are now more likely to be classified as WR2/3. Tight end George Kittle also loses value and can only be seen as a mediocre TE1.
Only running back Christian McCaffrey should benefit from the situation. He will probably become even more of a focus in the offense and should receive a lot of targets in the passing game. McCaffrey remains a top-five play among running backs.
There is good news from some injured top players. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts returns to the team after ankle problems and is a solid QB1 for the game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Vikings running back Aaron Jones has also recovered from his rib injury and will play. He is classified as an RB2 with upside.
The Miami Dolphins have given wide receiver Tyreek Hill the green light for the duel with the New England Patriots. He recently struggled with a wrist injury, but was able to train fully all week. Hill remains a WR1, even if the matchup against the strong Pats secondary is not optimal.
Question marks behind top receivers.
Some prominent wide receivers are heading into the weekend under strain. CeeDee Lamb’s status with the Dallas Cowboys is still unclear. He missed Thursday’s practice due to back and foot problems. If he were able to play, he would only be classified as a low-end WR1 due to the quarterback situation.
There is also still a question mark behind Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran missed the last three games before the bye week due to a thigh injury. He was able to practice this week, but is still officially listed as questionable. If deployed, Evans would be seen as WR2.
The Chicago Bears are worried about the use of Keenan Allen. The top receiver returned to practice on Friday, but is officially listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. Those were the Fantasy Football Sunday updates.
