Edwards, most valuable player (MVP) in the last Bundesliga final series against Alba, was the best scorer for Bayern with 25 points, who also won the fourth EuroLeague game in their high-tech arena. Devin Booker (18) was also hard to stop, and Edwards had four steals. The top scorer for the completely overwhelmed Alba was Matteo Spagnolo (23).
The Munich team now has a 7-3 win and is clearly on course for the play-offs. Alba (2:8), which recently made people sit up and take notice after difficult weeks with victories over ratiopharm Ulm (Bundesliga) and Armani Milan (EuroLeague), is still bottom of the table.
World champion coach Gordon Herbert’s FC Bayern turned 40:36 into 59:38 (18th minute) with a quick 19:2 run before the break; the Alba defense found no means at all. In the second half the picture remained the same, the Munich team continued to pull away and at times led by 40 points (96:56/30.).
Alba was able to shorten the score again in the last quarter, but that didn’t change the clear defeat for coach Israel Gonzalez’s team.
