Election time also for the world of baseball. And Fortitudo Baseball is also moving, with its president. Pierluigi Bissa is part of the team that supports Marco Mazzieri who knows the reality of the Two Towers well. Marco, who was also the manager of the National team, played for the Calze Verdi Casalecchio in 1991, and then spent two seasons in Fortitudo.
In Mazzieri’s program – the elections on Saturday, in Pieve di Cento, the outgoing president, and new candidate is Andrea Marcon (the other two are Maurizio Condipodero and Marco Sforza) -, the reform of the A series, the return to games over the distance of 9 innings (in recent seasons the seven-inning formula has prevailed) and redefining the prerogatives of the Afi athlete, in order to protect the Italian school.
“Together with the Conto Pieno 2024 group – says Mazzieri – I am putting my knowledge and experience at the disposal of our movement, which is going through a period of profound unease. Baseball has been my life for over 52 years: first as a bat boy, then as a player, manager of the Italian national team, federal councilor and scout. Now I feel the desire to return to the field by running for president of the Fibs. The federal policies of recent years have not produced the promised and hoped-for results. A cultural revolution is needed that involves all the players in the movement, with the federation at the forefront in returning to being close to and supportive of the clubs and all members of the sports community”.
Attention also to the top activity, in addition to the youth sector. “At the championship level, the A1 baseball series must regain its status as a top championship, with a high quality of play, useful above all for the athletes who play in the National Team”.
The election results will also influence the choices of a Fortitudo that has been renewed compared to the recent past: with Lele Frignani moving from the role of manager to that of sporting director, and Fabio Betto from pitching coach to manager.
